Year of the Dog Day 113

I’ve not been very well today so I couldn’t go to work. I been trying hard not to get ill as obviously I can’t really go looking for dogs when I’m ill! Fortunately I have an excellent friends Jen and Drew who have an extremely handsome dog called Alfie so I text them and asked if they would mind popping round; Jen said of course! What a very good friend Jen is, I’m very lucky! Alfie was very excited to pop round and made a real fuss of me, Jen thinks that he could sense that I’m ill!

Alfie starting his life as a working dog on a farm but the farmer said that he was “bloody useless” and didn’t manage to catch anything! For that reason Alfie got the sack and was given to Drew and Jen. Alfie is such a friendly boy and lots of fun!

I went for a walk at lunchtime but unfortunately I didn’t spot any dogs!

When I got home myself, my husband and Ethan went for a walk to the park. We spotted two lovely King Charles Spaniels so we went to say hello! Ethan was very keen on them and liked them even more when he found out that they’re called Charlie and Lola! They are both rescue dogs. They’re previous owner didn’t know how to look after them properly and fed them on Pizza! They were never taken for walks and so unsurprisingly Charlie got quite overweight! Fortunately they were both rehomed together into a very loving new home and both dogs are now doing really well! As I’m pretty sure that I’m going to bump into the lovely Charlie and Lola again I decided to take just one of their pictures; today is Charlie’s turn!

One of the dogs was bouncing along the path, he looked very happy and I was pretty sure he was a puppy! I was right, Olly is just 7 months old and very excited! He’s very cute! I was at the reception desk at work when I saw a man tie his dog up outside; my colleague asked me if they are delivering dogs to work for me now, I wish! I asked the owner if I could take his lovely dogs photo and he said yes! Alfie is very nice, such a friendly boy, I got to give him a good stroke! He’s so good that he doesn’t even mind if his ears get pulled by a toddler! Alfie is a rescue dog from Manchester Dogs Home.

I didn’t get chance to look for a dog in the day so I planned to pop to the park when I got back to Bolton, but it turned out that I bumped into a beautiful dog on the way to my car! I met really lovely Lassie, what a friendly dog, we got to have a hug! Lassie human mummy really wanted to get a dog but her dad wasn’t so sure so they named her Lassie after his boyhood dog to talk him round; good thinking! Lassie is a rescue dog from the Destitute Animal Shelter in Bolton http://www.animalshelter.org.uk/. She was rescued at 6 mouths old. Lassie lives with another dog called Dylan who’s 14 years old. They get on very well but she’s a bit nervous around other dogs, her human mummy thinks that something possibly happened to her before she was rescued.

Lassie’s human mum happens to be an animal photographer so I’ve asked her to give me some tips! You can check out her photos at https://www.facebook.com/jaderileyphotographyuk?fref=nf

She came up to all of us to say hello with a big smile on her face; she’s a gorgeous dog! Mia is best friends with a French Bulldog called Rudy. They hang out with each other most nights and they both sulk if they don’t see each other, how cute! Mia is also friends with the lovely Bentley from day 99!

Year of the Dog Day 101

We all popped to the shop this morning and as soon as we walked in I spotted some people with 2 guide dogs who were there to collect money for the Guide Dog Association http://www.guidedogs.org.uk/.

Inca is a working Guide Dog and has been with his human daddy for 3 years. Inca is pretty tall and his dad was telling me that they breed Guide Dogs to different sizes to match the height of their owners. They also take other things into consideration like how active the person is and the kind of activities they regularly do. It’s so obvious but I hadn’t thought about it before that they would do that, it makes so much sense! Inca was very friendly and was happy for everyone to say hello! He lent into me for a little cuddle!

Rinty is a retired Guide Dog. His previous owner developed problems with his arms and so couldn’t walk with him anymore. They did try to re-train Rinty but they found that he had developed a fear of heavy traffic and so he had to retire. His current human daddy has always had dogs and has been a puppy walker for 13 different Guide Dog puppies. I asked him it was really hard giving them up; I don’t know if I could do it! He said that it is pretty hard but you have to remind yourself that they’ll only be with you for a year and that there going on to do an amazing job! He said that it’s all worthwhile when you receive a letter from there new owner thanking you for the work you’ve done! Rinty also lives with a former Guide Dog trainee that didn’t make it!

I know I’ve said it before but I think that Guide Dogs are so amazing, what caring, gentle, clever dogs they are!

Just as I was taking pictures of lovely Glen yesterday I spotted a very handsome Old English Bulldog; sooo gorgeous! I asked his human mummy if she would be able to meet up with me today so that I could take his picture and she said yes, very happy! It was pretty nice knowing that I had a dog lined up today so I didn’t have to go searching at dinnertime, I did happen to walk past about 5 dogs though!

After work myself, Ethan and my Dad went for a walk down the street to meet up with lovely Bentley! He’s such a lovely dog with bags of character; basically everyone that walks past him wants to say hello! You can’t really tell from the picture but Bentley is quite big considering he’s only 7 months old!

Bentley is a rescue dog. His breeder took him to the vets to have him put down as a young puppy because he had cherry eye even though the condition is very treatable. Luckily Bentleys Human mum’s daughter works in the vets and rang her mum to ask is they could give Bentley a home; the answer was yes! Who wouldn’t, he’s great!

When I got home a did a bit of gardening in the front garden and kept a look out for any dogs. I was very pleased when I spotted a very cute Pug; I really love Pug’s, they have so much pizazz! Roxy was no exception, she’s a very happy girl! Roxy is also very clever and can do a number of tricks; she showed me roll over and shake a paw!

Hector is a very friendly handsome boy, he’s massive too, you can’t really tell how big he is by the picture! He also came along to the park with Muffin and Jake; it was very nice to see them again! They’re all really sweet together, at one point I was stroking all 3 of them!

Hector is a rescue dog, he was left abandoned tied up to a lamppost. I can’t understand why people do that. He’s such a lovely dog, I’m really pleased he’s got a good home now!

I had the day off today so we planned to trip to Quarry Bank Mill. Since doing my blog I’ve made friends with Cooper the Dog on twitter; he doesn’t live that far away from Quarry Bank Mill so we arranged to meet up! Cooper is a very friendly dog, sooo happy! I think pretty much every person that walked past him wanted to stroke him and say hello! It was nice that I was able to spend a little bit more time than usual taking lots of pictures, to be honest I’ve found it quite difficult deciding which one to chose; that’s why I’ve chosen two! Cooper’s human dad showed me a video of Cooper walking up the stairs; he really enjoys walking up the stairs but he finds it quite hard as he’s only got little legs and then he can’t get back down! Cooper is a proud member of the Zombie Squad!

Ethan was little shy when he first met Cooper, he’d only just woken up but Cooper has definitely made an impression on him; he’s been taking about him all afternoon!
