Year of the Dog: Hilda

It’s been quite along time since I last posted a picture of a gorgeous  doggy but I couldn’t resist sharing a picture of gorgeous pooch I met today! There was a market set up outside work today and beautiful Hilda a British Bulldog was on one of the stalls with her humans. I thought of an excuse to go outside a meet her and I gave her a good fuss, what a beautiful friendly girl!

I walked past later in the day after my lunch so I had to go and say hello again and make her a dog of the day! She was in her little bed when I went over but she ended up getting out so that I could give her a good stroke. She put her head really far back so I could stroke her chin, she also gave my hand a little hug, so cute! As I’ve said many times before, I absolutely love Bull dogs, I want Hilda to be my best friend! Hilda is a rescue dog and has been with her  current humans since July last year. Unfortunately Hilda was not treated well by her previous humans and has the scars to prove it. I’m very pleased she’s got such a loving home now.

Year of the Dog Day 314

I went out at lunchtime today but I didn’t spot any dogs so I went for a walk round the block near Ethan’s nursery but still no joy! I had to wait for my husband to get back before I could resume my search for a dog. It was dark by the time I headed out, I’m really not a fan of these dark nights! I walked for a little while and then I spotted a gorgeous looking dog across the road so I went over to meet him. Brock is a lovely American Bulldog, I haven’t had one on my blog yet so I pleased to meet him! Brock has a lovely temperament, he’s very chilled out! Brock’s human got him when he was a puppy but he had anther older dog that found him a bit much so he temporally went to live with his friend. Brock moved back in with his human when he was about 1 year old; he’d calmed down by that point and he got on really well with the other older dog.

Year of the Dog Day 259

I went for a little walk to the park with Ethan this evening and as soon as I got there I spotted a puppy Bulldog, what a find! It’s fair to say I was pretty chuffed! Winston is a really lovely friendly dog, I gave him lots of strokes and so did Ethan. Winston is such a cutie that everyone wants to stop and stroke him, he had a number of admirers whilst I was with him! Winston originally had a previous owner but they had a Pug which didn’t get on with him so he was returned to the breeder and then his current human took him home! Winston’s human was going to go on another holiday this year but decided to buy Winston instead; he’s definitely better than a holiday! Winston’s human mummy is trying to teach him not to beg for food but she has discovered that her neighbour has been giving him food over the fence!

Year of the Dog Day 258

Myself and a colleague had some time to kill this morning whilst we were waiting for the V&A to open so we popped to a little café; I was really chuffed when I saw a gorgeous dog outside! I gave Luna a good stroke, she was very happy! She kept chewing her lead, she always likes to have something in her mouth! At first I thought she might be a Boxer Dog cross but it turns out that she is a Victorian Bulldog, I didn’t know that there was such a breed! Victorian Bulldogs are similar to Bulldogs but they are slightly taller and tend to have less breathing problems; they are similar to Bulldogs in temperament though! When Luna was a puppy they discovered that she is completely deaf but they are still able to communicate with her by using hand gestures, it’s like doggy sign language! She’s such a happy girl, she definitely doesn’t let being deaf hold her back!

Year of the Dog Day 248

I went for a little walk at lunchtime and I was mega happy when I bumped into amazing Dolly and Betty, two gorgeous Bull Dogs. Dolly and Betty are super friendly, I gave them lots of fuss! Betty is especially friendly she came sat on my knee and I gave her some big cuddles; she loves hugs! Dolly and Betty are sisters, they are from a litter of 5 but they were best friends with each other. When their humans went to see them they couldn’t separate them so they decided they had to take them both home with them! They’re such a cute pair, I’m glad they got to stay together! Dolly and Betty’s humans own a café called Betty and Dolly’s Sandwich Bar and Tea Room, it’s a dog friendly café so the girls get to go to work with their humans. Lots of dogs go into the café and they take a photo of each one that visits and put it up on the wall, what a great idea! They’ve had Bull Dog parties at the café, I hope I can go to the next one! Dolly and Betty are like a pair of celebrities, loads of people stopped to stroke them and a couple took their photo! It takes a while for them to walk anywhere as they have to stop so often for people to stoke them!

Year of the Dog Day 99

Just as I was taking pictures of lovely Glen yesterday I spotted a very handsome Old English Bulldog; sooo gorgeous! I asked his human mummy if she would be able to meet up with me today so that I could take his picture and she said yes, very happy! It was pretty nice knowing that I had a dog lined up today so I didn’t have to go searching at dinnertime, I did happen to walk past about 5 dogs though!

After work myself, Ethan and my Dad went for a walk down the street to meet up with lovely Bentley! He’s such a lovely dog with bags of character; basically everyone that walks past him wants to say hello! You can’t really tell from the picture but Bentley is quite big considering he’s only 7 months old!

Bentley is a rescue dog. His breeder took him to the vets to have him put down as a young puppy because he had cherry eye even though the condition is very treatable. Luckily Bentleys Human mum’s daughter works in the vets and rang her mum to ask is they could give Bentley a home; the answer was yes! Who wouldn’t, he’s great!

Year of the Dog Day 87

The weather is really horrible today, it’s poured down for most of the day! We went for a little drive when I spotted a very nice dog so we parked up and I ran over to say hello, luckily there was a break in the rain! I think that Dylan is the first Bedlington Terrier that I’ve ever met, he’s lovely! He was really friendly and lent in to me to have a good stoke. He especially likes being stroked on his lower back!

Year of the Dog Day 5

It was my first day back to work today after the Christmas holidays. I was worried I’d struggle to get the time to find a dog today so I was eagle-eyed with my dogdar switched on! I got off the train in Manchester along with about another 100 commuters and through the crowd I saw a bum which I believed belonged to a British Bulldog wagging from side to side. I sprinted (it was really more of a jog) after the dog! When I made my way through the crowd I discovered that again there were two dogs, a British Bulldog and a French Bulldog, almost the same as yesterday (they are different dogs, I promise!). Again I was very excited, 4 Bulldogs in 2 days, jackpot! I was a little out of breath but I managed to ask the friendly man if I could take a picture of his dogs. The British Bulldog is a male but called Louise, I’m told it’s a long story but unfortunately I didn’t have time to ask what the story is! Today I did manage to get a photo of the 2 dogs together but Louise has come out a bit blurry which is a shame, I’m sure I’ll get better at it!

Year of the Dog Day 4

I decided today that I would try to find my dog of the day earlier on, take off the pressure! I was pretty lucky, as I left the house I saw 2 dogs walking down the street, I could tell from the smaller dogs walk that it was a which I was very excited about! It was really icy out, my son and husband had both slipped as soon as we left the house but I managed to run down the street without falling on my bum, bonus! I was very excited to see that I was right and it was a French Bulldog and the bigger one was a very handsome French/ English Bulldog cross. I absolutely adore French Bulldogs so I’m a very happy girl today! I would usually just include the one dog but as they were both together I thought it would be nice to have pictures of them both. I tried to get a picture of the 2 together but its early days for my dog photography skills and I couldn’t manage it!
