Year of the Dog Day 31

Yay, I’ve completed my first month! I’m very happy!

We were driving back from a trip to Ikea when I noticed a very cute Staffie puppy wearing a pink coat! My husband pulled over as soon as he could and I got out and ran back down the road; they were still there! Cookie the Staffie puppy is very cute, I got to give her lots of strokes! Her human brother was happy to tell me all about her, there’s a lot of love for cute Cookie!

Year of the Dog Day 30

I’m off out tonight so I really wanted to find a dog in the day today, but no joy! Another walk in the dark for me.

I spotted a very lovely Border Collie so I headed over to say hello to Max! Max was very friendly, but was a little nervous of the camera. The only way he would let me take a picture was if I was fussing him, hence the hand. This and the dark made taking the picture quite hard! Hopefully I have captured Max’s lovely friendly face.

Max is very lucky and goes for four walks a day, despite his owner being 87 years old! Dogs keep you youthful!

Max

Breed: Border Collie

Age: 9 human years

Favourite toy: A rubber ring! He also enjoys carrying multiple sticks, but Max doesn’t share – once he’s got them, they are his! II love it when dogs carry sticks, especially if they are much bigger than the dog)

Favourite pastime: Walking and playing

Year of the Dog Day 29

Todays weather report is snow, cold, sleet and more snow! I was hoping I wouldn’t have to spend too much time outside today so I went to find a jewellery shop in an arcade just off St. Anne’s Square that I had been told has a French Bulldog in it; I just hadn’t realised that there’s about 6 jewellery shops in there! I had a look through each window but couldn’t spot any bat ears!

On the way home a spotted a very nice looking dog and went across to speak to the owner but they were in a rush, my first no!

When I got back to Bolton I went for a walk to the shop and was very pleased to spot Alfie the very handsome Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He was very friendly and I got to give him a nice fuss! Alfie is very gentle and tolerates a lot from the grandkids!

Very cute Alfie!

Year of the Dog Day 28

It’s been so windy and rainy today! I decided that if I could avoid walking around in the bad weather today to find a dog it would definitely be a good thing! I was off work today and so headed to my parents house in the afternoon. I bribed them with cakes to keep their eyes peeled for dogs walking past! I was there for about half an hour when a very cute dog walked past so I dashed out of the house. I met the very lovely Jack who is another rescue dog from Leigh Cats and Dogs home, he was adopted when he was 2 years old.

Another day in work so I went for a little walk at lunchtime on the dog lookout! I did spot a dog, the very lovely Prince from Day 22! I gave him a little fuss, he’s so lovely but I can’t have him as my dog of the day again! I didn’t spot any more dogs and so went for a little walk just after I parked up at nursery. I didn’t get very far when a spotted a very cute Poodle called Poppy. She was very sweet but unfortunately the picture isn’t the best! I’m finding it very difficult to get good quality images in the dark; I can’t wait for the spring to come!

Year of the Dog Day 26

I went for a couple of little walks round Manchester today on my dog hunt but I didn’t spot any, there really aren’t many about in town!

When I got back to Bolton I popped to the shop and the guy that served me said “you’re the dog lady aren’t you?”. I hadn’t recognised him at first but it was the owner of Ruby, the very beautiful German Shepherd from Day 14! I asked him if he had thought that I was a bit of a weirdo and he said he kind of did until he had a look at the blog! I suspected as much!

Just as I started driving off from the shop I noticed a nice little dog with a very friendly looking lady so I parked up and jumped out of the car (I do totally accept that some people might interpret this as me being a bit weird!). The lovely dog is Kim a Staffie and Whippet cross, she has such a lovely kind face! Kim’s owner told me all about her and what a lovely girl she is! She also told me that once her and her partner were riding their bikes in the Lake District with Kim following them. They stopped for a rest and then another couple went past on their bikes, Kim thought they were her humans and so started following them!

Year of the Dog Day 25

The last Sunday that I worked I struggled to find a dog during the day and so had to go traipsing around in the cold and dark in the evening so I was keen to avoid that today. I was approaching my work driving down Deansgate when I spotted a really lovely looking dog. I wasn’t sure what breed it was but I was very keen to make it my dog of the day! I parked up in the car park as soon as I could and ran up to Deansgate in the hope I would spot them and yay, they were there! I ran over and met the very beautiful Fallon, a Kerry Blue Terrier. I don’t think I’ve ever met a Kerry Blue before so I feel very lucky today! Fallon is originally from Ireland and her Grandad once won Crufts!

I like the close up shot I got of Fallon so I’ve put two photos on today!

Maurice is a very friendly boy and already has a bit of a following; you can follow him on Twitter @FrenchieMaurice   and Instagram . His humans were very nice and told me all him! I had a lovely day in Tatton Park today. I was pretty sure that I would find a dog there! I saw a couple throughout the day but I was in the middle of a meeting so didn’t have chance to meet them but I was sure I’d have more dog opportunities! I spotted a very excited Cocker Spaniel so I went over to say hello! Rory was very friendly indeed! He has a lovely personality, very excited and is really brilliant with kids.

Year of the Dog Day 22

I’m very happy today! I’ve worked late tonight so I was really hoping I’d find a dog during my lunchtime as it would be way too late after work! I went to Saint Anne’s square and then to the Cathedral but no dogs! My next stop was the park that I met the lovely Teazle in but still nothing. From there I went a slightly longer way back to work and struck gold again! Across the street a noticed 4 little paws. I started running and as I got nearer I realised it was a French Bulldog puppy, soooooo happy! The very cute Prince is very friendly and his owner was very happy to tell me all about him, he loves him loads! I also got to have a little hug with Prince who showered me with kisses! Every day I hope I can hold a puppy; dreams do come true!

I’ve had the day off today so I figured I’d have lots of opportunities to find a dog! I went to my parents house and only had to wait for 30 minutes before a dog walked past, my mum got very excited when she noticed the very pretty Beagle Tilly! What a lovely friendly girl Tilly is! Her owner told me that she’s cheeky too! They’ve had to have child locks put on all of the Kitchen cupboards, even the high up ones because she would break into them!

Year of the Dog Day 20

I was hoping that I might see another dog walking past my work today but I think that’s wishful thinking! I went for a walk around Manchester at lunchtime but I didn’t see any dogs. I planned to go for a walk around the block when I got to nursery but just as I was pulling up to park the car I noticed a lady walking a very handsome dog! I parked up as quick as I could and ran after them being very careful not to slip on the ice! The very excited Tikaani was very happy to say hello! I wasn’t sure what type of dog Tikaani was but his owner explained that he’s a Northern Inuit, what a lovely dog! Tikaani was very chatty and spoke to me for a treat, clever boy!

Year of the Dog Day 19

I’m very excited today! I was sat in my office in work when the phone rang, it was my colleague Kim. “Quick Liza, we’ve got a dog for you” she said so I ran down the stairs to the reception desk. When I got down there Kim explained that they saw an amazing dog and so my other colleague Mark ran after them and explained about the blog. By the time I got down (my office is probably the furthest point away from the reception desk) there was no dog to be seen but they were due to come back that way. Only a few minutes later the amazing Chow Bubba appeared, what an amazing dog, you don’t see Chow’s every day! Whilst I was taking picture of Bubba another admirer walked past and also took a picture, although I don’t think that lady was doing a blog! The building in the background is the spectacular John Rylands Library!

Year of the Dog Day 18

It’s still pretty icy outside today but I decided to walk to my parents house rather than drive in the hope that I would see a dog. I got right to my parents’ street before I did meet a dog and that was my parents neighbours dog. He’s very lovely but I haven’t made him my dog of the day today as I thought it would be sensible to save him as a back up dog on a day I’m struggling. Loads of dogs walk past my parents house so I figured it wouldn’t take long to spot one, it didn’t! My dad jumped up and shouted ‘a dog Liza, quick!’, it’s a family effort!

I ran out of the house in hot pursuit and caught up with a very excited Neville who was on his way to play ball on the field. I think that Neville is one of the most excited dogs I’ve ever met, he couldn’t wait to get to the field! I had to stand in the direction of the field to get the picture, he wouldn’t look in any other direction, eye on the prize!

Year of the Dog Day 17

The weather has been awful today, loads of hail and sleet! I was going to go for a nice walk in the park today but it’s really icy and skiddy so I’ve just gone for a walk to the shop instead! I spotted a lady walking 3 dogs so I ran across the road to meet the trio of pooches. It turns out that Christine, the lady walking the dogs, is a dog walker although the dogs she was walking today are hers. I only took a picture of the one dog (I did give them all a treat though) and Christine chose the lovely Meg. Meg is an old girl but has lots of sparkle, she flashed me her winning smile!

Year of the Dog Day 16

I had such a busy day in work today; there wasn’t a spare minute to go and search for a dog at lunch time!

After work I parked up at nursery and went for a walk around the block but I didn’t see any dogs. I did however see one on my way out of nursery but I couldn’t really stop as I had my little boy with me and it would be really difficult to get a picture of a dog whilst keeping him safe by the road! As soon as my husband got back from work I headed out! I went up to the shop and outside there was very nice little Yorkshire Terrier called Bailey.

Year of the Dog Day 15

The weather is really horrible today, very cold and windy! I went for a walk around Manchester at dinnertime and went to another little hidden park that I’d never been to before but no dogs! After work I walked a slightly longer way to the train station but couldn’t spot a single dog!

When I got back to Bolton I popped into Pets at Home as needed to get a couple of bits for my handsome cat Milo. Again I was hoping I’d see a dog but I couldn’t spot any. I mentioned my blog to the two members of staff and they were really friendly and helpful and went off to see if there was a dog in the dog grooming parlour but they’d all gone home!

When I got back to the house I went for a little walk to the shop, surely I’d see a dog there but nothing! The weather is so horrible all the sensible people are at home in the warm, just the crazy dog stalker lady wandering the streets! I walked past the hairdressers that my mum goes to and I remembered that my mum said that she has a nice little dog so I popped in. What a lovely lady the hairdresser is, she was really friendly and happy for me to take a photo of the very cute and excited Oscar!

Oscar has a bit of a fan club at the hairdressers with some customer bringing in treats for him every time they come, what a lucky boy!

Year of the Dog Day 14

Yeah, day off! I’ve had lots of time to find a dog today! It started snowing earlier but fortunately it’s wasn’t heavy so I could get out and about with my little boy in the pram. We walked to the library for toddler tales, I did see a dog on the way but I was running a bit behind so couldn’t stop. After toddler tales we went for a walk to the park where I spotted 3 people walking 4 dogs between them! I asked if they would mind if one of them was my dog of the day. They offered all 4 of them but I though I should just stick to one! The dog of the day is very handsome Mason!

Year of the Dog Day 13

I’m really tired today! Probably not the best way to start my post but this is my sixth day in a row in work; I’m very much looking forward to my day off tomorrow! I was hoping I’d find a dog at dinnertime (in the northern sense) today as I didn’t really want to have to go for a walk in the cold and the dark after work! I went to the park where I saw the beautiful Teazle yesterday but there weren’t any dogs about today. I did see one walking past work whilst I was in a meeting but I didn’t think it would be very professional to dash out of a meeting to meet a dog!

After work I parked the car up outside nursery and went for little walk around the block to see if I could find a dog. I spotted a guy further down the road, there were cars in the way so I couldn’t see if he had a dog but I thought he was walking in a “dog walking” way! He was! My doggy senses are getting stronger by the day! I met Ruby the very smiley German Shepherd. Ruby was a little camera-shy!

We were stood under a yellow street light hence the colour of the photo. It looks a bit crazy but I kind of like it!

Year of the Dog Day 12

I met a beautiful dog today! I decided to have a look for a little hidden park that I’d been told about in the centre of Manchester which I’d never been to before. It’s a nice little park and I was very lucky and met a dog straight away, a very elegant German Short Haired Pointer called Teazle. I’d never heard that name before but Teazle’s owners explained that it’s a type of flower. I really love the story of how she got her name. Teazle’s family were on holiday in Cornwall when all of a sudden a dog called Teazle jumped into the back of the car. Their daughter fell in love with the dog and wanted to take it home with them! What their daughter didn’t know was they had already bought a puppy German Short Haired Pointer for her which they were due to pick up when they returned from their holiday. When they picked up the puppy they decided to name her Teazle after the lovely dog from Cornwall!
