Year of the Dog Day 11

I start work a little bit later on a Sunday but I had every intention of getting up at my normal time so that I could go for a dog spotting walk before work; that didn’t happen, my bed was sooo comfy and the weather sounded awful outside! Anyway I ended up being a bit pushed for time this morning and so couldn’t stop the car to meet two very nice Huskies that I saw going for a walk! I went out for a little walk during my break but unfortunately didn’t see any dogs. I didn’t spot any dogs walking past my work either! As soon as got home I parked up and went for a walk round the block. It was really quiet out, it was before 6pm by the time I got back but it felt really late! The weather has been pretty awful today so I figure that only the hardened dog walkers are braving it out tonight! I was near the end of my route and I was starting to lose heart when I spotted a little dog ahead! I jogged after them and saw it was very cute Westie wearing a very stylish polka-dot jacket! Alfie the Westie was very friendly, a really lovely boy! Whilst we were chatting he got very excited about a motorbike that went past but he doesn’t feel the same about buses, he’s a bit scared of them; they are much bigger than him!

Year of the Dog Day 10

I’ve been working today but I was very optimistic that there might be more dogs around Manchester city centre on the weekend than through the week. I went for a little wonder round at dinner time and spotted a dog heading into Gap so I went in hot pursuit! The dog in question is Rosie a very cute cross-breed. Rosie’s owners adopted her from a dogs home where she was in a bit of a bad way and pregnant! Rosie ended up having 7 puppies which were all adopted to good homes through the Blue Cross. Rosie’s owner ended up working for the Blue Cross a few years later in Devon and met 3 of Rosie’s puppies again, how mad is that! What a small world!

Year of the Dog Day 9

I didn’t see any dogs in Manchester city centre again today, I hope there are some over the weekend! I got back to Bolton without seeing a single dog. I walked to the car, parked it at my sons’ nursery and went for a quick walk around the block to see if I could spot a dog – but no cigar! When I got home I started checking out of the window to see if I could spot any dogs walking past, I can’t decide if it makes me seem like a bit of a nutter or not if I run out of the house to get a photo?! I didn’t see any dogs anyway! As soon as my husband got home I headed out on the hunt!

I needed to buy some milk so I headed to the shop, I was pretty sure I’d find a dog there and I did, a very handsome Pug called Oscar. I love Pugs! Oscar was very friendly and was wearing a little scarf, he won’t leave the house if he hasn’t got it on! I love that, what a fashion icon! Oscar’s owner was telling me that she nagged her dad for at least 3 years to get a Pug but he was having none of it until he met two Pugs outside a Chinese takeaway and fell in love! Who can blame him, Pugs are ace!

Unfortunately this isn’t my best picture, my camera was being a bit weird and I didn’t have too much time to mess with it and get it right. Sorry Oscar I’ve not captured how lovely you are!

Year of the Dog Day 8

Work days are definitely going to be harder than days off to find a dog! I didn’t see any dogs on the way to work so I went for a walk at dinnertime to see if I could find one – but not a sausage! Today has been the first day that I’ve got to 6pm without having yet found a dog! I popped into Pets at Home on the way home to see if there were any dogs there but I think today was the first time I’ve ever been in there when there wasn’t any dogs! There were plenty of rabbits though but I don’t think I can pass them off as a dog! On my way to the car I bumped into my sister so I gave her a lift home and luckily spotted a friendly looking lady with a very sweet dog. I pulled over and jumped out of the car whilst trying not to seem like a complete mentalist! I was very pleased to meet the very cute Betty! Betty was really friendly, a really sweet dog and she was very happy to model for me! Betty’s owner was very happy to tell me all about Betty and how friendly and also determined she is!

Year of the Dog Day 7

Yeah, one week completed! I’ve had my day off work today but I’ve had quite a busy morning going to Toddler Tales and then to visit my niece. I saw loads of dogs when I was driving around but didn’t actually get to see one close up until later. I went to my parents’ house and dropped my son off with them whilst I went on a dog search. I said this morning that I’d really like to see a Springer Spaniel puppy; well I didn’t see a puppy but I did see 3 very excited Springer Spaniels! It was a new experience trying to photograph a Springer Spaniel, they’re so excited that they don’t really keep still! I did finally manage to get a shot in focus of the lovely Holly and I was very grateful to the owner for being so patient! Springer Spaniels are such fun dogs, I love how hyper-active they are, I’ve had a big smile on face for the rest of the day!

Year of the Dog Day 6

I was really lucky yesterday finding a dog as soon as I got off the train, but no such luck today! I didn’t see a single dog on the way to work. I had a meeting in a different building in Manchester this morning so I was hoping that I’d see one on the way there or back but nothing! I’m not sure how many dogs I’m going to find in Manchester city centre during the week, I think I might struggle! I had a meeting in the cafe in Waterstones in the afternoon and fortunately on my way out I spotted a very cute Yorkshire Terrier wearing a sweet little jacket. My colleague Rachel fortunately knows about my blog so she didn’t think I was mental when I shot across the shop to meet the lovely dog! I was very happy to find Rosie!

Year of the Dog Day 5

It was my first day back to work today after the Christmas holidays. I was worried I’d struggle to get the time to find a dog today so I was eagle-eyed with my dogdar switched on! I got off the train in Manchester along with about another 100 commuters and through the crowd I saw a bum which I believed belonged to a British Bulldog wagging from side to side. I sprinted (it was really more of a jog) after the dog! When I made my way through the crowd I discovered that again there were two dogs, a British Bulldog and a French Bulldog, almost the same as yesterday (they are different dogs, I promise!). Again I was very excited, 4 Bulldogs in 2 days, jackpot! I was a little out of breath but I managed to ask the friendly man if I could take a picture of his dogs. The British Bulldog is a male but called Louise, I’m told it’s a long story but unfortunately I didn’t have time to ask what the story is! Today I did manage to get a photo of the 2 dogs together but Louise has come out a bit blurry which is a shame, I’m sure I’ll get better at it!

Year of the Dog Day 4

I decided today that I would try to find my dog of the day earlier on, take off the pressure! I was pretty lucky, as I left the house I saw 2 dogs walking down the street, I could tell from the smaller dogs walk that it was a which I was very excited about! It was really icy out, my son and husband had both slipped as soon as we left the house but I managed to run down the street without falling on my bum, bonus! I was very excited to see that I was right and it was a French Bulldog and the bigger one was a very handsome French/ English Bulldog cross. I absolutely adore French Bulldogs so I’m a very happy girl today! I would usually just include the one dog but as they were both together I thought it would be nice to have pictures of them both. I tried to get a picture of the 2 together but its early days for my dog photography skills and I couldn’t manage it!

Year of the Dog Day 3

I was starting to worry that I might have left it a little late today to find a dog; although it was only 3.30pm when I left the house it was starting to get a little dark and I thought I might struggle! Fortunately just round the corner from my parents’ house I bumped into a very lovely Boxer dog. Again the dog owner didn’t think I was crazy and was happy for me to take a photo of the lovely Poppy!

Year of the Dog Day 2

I’m not in work until next week so I had time today to pop to the park to find my dog number 2. I already knew yesterday’s dog so today was my first time approaching somebody I didn’t already know to ask if I could take a picture of their dog. Luckily I spotted a very friendly looking lady with a cute Yorkshire terrier and she didn’t seem to think I was too insane when I explained what I was doing!

Thanks to Sue and Dave for letting Lady be my dog number 1. I’m looking forward to making lots of new dog friends in 2015!
