Year of the Dog Day 43

I went for a walk at lunch time today but didn’t spot any dogs, I did bump into my sister though which was very nice!

I parked up near nursery and spotted a very cute dog! I jumped out of the car to say hello to very lovely Petra! Petra’s owner has broken her leg so she was being walked by Iris and Keith. They weren’t 100% sure about some of the questions I asked them about Petra so they very kindly found out some of the info when they dropped her off and rang me up to let me know; thanks Iris and Keith!

I went over to say hello and then carried on with my search; I didn’t spot any other dogs during my lunch hour!

I went for a little walk when I got home, another night shot I’m afraid, I can’t wait for the days to get longer again! I spotted a very cute dog and went over to say hello! Poppy is a Border Terrier and she’s 15 years old; you wouldn’t think it though, she’s so active! Poppy would hardly keep still for a photo and her owner told that me she’ll walk for miles despite her advanced age!

I did manage to give her a quick hug though but there was no time to chat, I had a dog to meet! I had enough time before the train came to meet very lovely Rocky, he’s getting an old boy! He was really gentle and very friendly, we had a little hug! He was also very well-behaved on the train! Rocky is a rescue dog from Manchester Dogs home.

Todays weather report is snow, cold, sleet and more snow! I was hoping I wouldn’t have to spend too much time outside today so I went to find a jewellery shop in an arcade just off St. Anne’s Square that I had been told has a French Bulldog in it; I just hadn’t realised that there’s about 6 jewellery shops in there! I had a look through each window but couldn’t spot any bat ears!

On the way home a spotted a very nice looking dog and went across to speak to the owner but they were in a rush, my first no!

When I got back to Bolton I went for a walk to the shop and was very pleased to spot Alfie the very handsome Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He was very friendly and I got to give him a nice fuss! Alfie is very gentle and tolerates a lot from the grandkids!

I gave him a little fuss, he’s so lovely but I can’t have him as my dog of the day again! I didn’t spot any more dogs and so went for a little walk just after I parked up at nursery. I didn’t get very far when a spotted a very cute Poodle called Poppy. She was very sweet but unfortunately the picture isn’t the best! I’m finding it very difficult to get good quality images in the dark; I can’t wait for the spring to come!

Year of the Dog Day 25

The last Sunday that I worked I struggled to find a dog during the day and so had to go traipsing around in the cold and dark in the evening so I was keen to avoid that today. I was approaching my work driving down Deansgate when I spotted a really lovely looking dog. I wasn’t sure what breed it was but I was very keen to make it my dog of the day! I parked up in the car park as soon as I could and ran up to Deansgate in the hope I would spot them and yay, they were there! I ran over and met the very beautiful Fallon, a Kerry Blue Terrier. I don’t think I’ve ever met a Kerry Blue before so I feel very lucky today! Fallon is originally from Ireland and her Grandad once won Crufts!

I like the close up shot I got of Fallon so I’ve put two photos on today!

I’m very happy today! I’ve worked late tonight so I was really hoping I’d find a dog during my lunchtime as it would be way too late after work! I went to Saint Anne’s square and then to the Cathedral but no dogs! My next stop was the park that I met the lovely Teazle in but still nothing. From there I went a slightly longer way back to work and struck gold again! Across the street a noticed 4 little paws. I started running and as I got nearer I realised it was a French Bulldog puppy, soooooo happy! The very cute Prince is very friendly and his owner was very happy to tell me all about him, he loves him loads! I also got to have a little hug with Prince who showered me with kisses! Every day I hope I can hold a puppy; dreams do come true!

I was hoping that I might see another dog walking past my work today but I think that’s wishful thinking! I went for a walk around Manchester at lunchtime but I didn’t see any dogs. I planned to go for a walk around the block when I got to nursery but just as I was pulling up to park the car I noticed a lady walking a very handsome dog! I parked up as quick as I could and ran after them being very careful not to slip on the ice! The very excited Tikaani was very happy to say hello! I wasn’t sure what type of dog Tikaani was but his owner explained that he’s a Northern Inuit, what a lovely dog! Tikaani was very chatty and spoke to me for a treat, clever boy!

Year of the Dog Day 15

The weather is really horrible today, very cold and windy! I went for a walk around Manchester at dinnertime and went to another little hidden park that I’d never been to before but no dogs! After work I walked a slightly longer way to the train station but couldn’t spot a single dog!

When I got back to Bolton I popped into Pets at Home as needed to get a couple of bits for my handsome cat Milo. Again I was hoping I’d see a dog but I couldn’t spot any. I mentioned my blog to the two members of staff and they were really friendly and helpful and went off to see if there was a dog in the dog grooming parlour but they’d all gone home!

When I got back to the house I went for a little walk to the shop, surely I’d see a dog there but nothing! The weather is so horrible all the sensible people are at home in the warm, just the crazy dog stalker lady wandering the streets! I walked past the hairdressers that my mum goes to and I remembered that my mum said that she has a nice little dog so I popped in. What a lovely lady the hairdresser is, she was really friendly and happy for me to take a photo of the very cute and excited Oscar!

Oscar has a bit of a fan club at the hairdressers with some customer bringing in treats for him every time they come, what a lucky boy!

Year of the Dog Day 13

I’m really tired today! Probably not the best way to start my post but this is my sixth day in a row in work; I’m very much looking forward to my day off tomorrow! I was hoping I’d find a dog at dinnertime (in the northern sense) today as I didn’t really want to have to go for a walk in the cold and the dark after work! I went to the park where I saw the beautiful Teazle yesterday but there weren’t any dogs about today. I did see one walking past work whilst I was in a meeting but I didn’t think it would be very professional to dash out of a meeting to meet a dog!

After work I parked the car up outside nursery and went for little walk around the block to see if I could find a dog. I spotted a guy further down the road, there were cars in the way so I couldn’t see if he had a dog but I thought he was walking in a “dog walking” way! He was! My doggy senses are getting stronger by the day! I met Ruby the very smiley German Shepherd. Ruby was a little camera-shy!

We were stood under a yellow street light hence the colour of the photo. It looks a bit crazy but I kind of like it!

Year of the Dog Day 12

I met a beautiful dog today! I decided to have a look for a little hidden park that I’d been told about in the centre of Manchester which I’d never been to before. It’s a nice little park and I was very lucky and met a dog straight away, a very elegant German Short Haired Pointer called Teazle. I’d never heard that name before but Teazle’s owners explained that it’s a type of flower. I really love the story of how she got her name. Teazle’s family were on holiday in Cornwall when all of a sudden a dog called Teazle jumped into the back of the car. Their daughter fell in love with the dog and wanted to take it home with them! What their daughter didn’t know was they had already bought a puppy German Short Haired Pointer for her which they were due to pick up when they returned from their holiday. When they picked up the puppy they decided to name her Teazle after the lovely dog from Cornwall!

Year of the Dog Day 10

I’ve been working today but I was very optimistic that there might be more dogs around Manchester city centre on the weekend than through the week. I went for a little wonder round at dinner time and spotted a dog heading into Gap so I went in hot pursuit! The dog in question is Rosie a very cute cross-breed. Rosie’s owners adopted her from a dogs home where she was in a bit of a bad way and pregnant! Rosie ended up having 7 puppies which were all adopted to good homes through the Blue Cross. Rosie’s owner ended up working for the Blue Cross a few years later in Devon and met 3 of Rosie’s puppies again, how mad is that! What a small world!

Year of the Dog Day 6

I was really lucky yesterday finding a dog as soon as I got off the train, but no such luck today! I didn’t see a single dog on the way to work. I had a meeting in a different building in Manchester this morning so I was hoping that I’d see one on the way there or back but nothing! I’m not sure how many dogs I’m going to find in Manchester city centre during the week, I think I might struggle! I had a meeting in the cafe in Waterstones in the afternoon and fortunately on my way out I spotted a very cute Yorkshire Terrier wearing a sweet little jacket. My colleague Rachel fortunately knows about my blog so she didn’t think I was mental when I shot across the shop to meet the lovely dog! I was very happy to find Rosie!

Year of the Dog Day 5

It was my first day back to work today after the Christmas holidays. I was worried I’d struggle to get the time to find a dog today so I was eagle-eyed with my dogdar switched on! I got off the train in Manchester along with about another 100 commuters and through the crowd I saw a bum which I believed belonged to a British Bulldog wagging from side to side. I sprinted (it was really more of a jog) after the dog! When I made my way through the crowd I discovered that again there were two dogs, a British Bulldog and a French Bulldog, almost the same as yesterday (they are different dogs, I promise!). Again I was very excited, 4 Bulldogs in 2 days, jackpot! I was a little out of breath but I managed to ask the friendly man if I could take a picture of his dogs. The British Bulldog is a male but called Louise, I’m told it’s a long story but unfortunately I didn’t have time to ask what the story is! Today I did manage to get a photo of the 2 dogs together but Louise has come out a bit blurry which is a shame, I’m sure I’ll get better at it!
